Real Madrid World
Designing the first interactive football theme park and resort in the world“Our proposal suggests a
strong concept with high
iconic potential based on
the concept of free-flowing
“islands” that provide
connectivity and permeability
between the buildings
and the park.”
Dietmar Leyk, principal and founder
Our proposal for Real Madrid World in Madrid envisions an innovative, interactive football theme park and resort, intertwining architecture, nature, and sport in a unique, sustainable way. Set against the backdrop of Madrid’s ambitious Metropolitan Forest project - a green infrastructure that will envelop the city with 450,000 new trees in a 75-kilometre long green forest around the city - the design seeks to contribute to this ecological vision while redefining the urban landscape.
Real Madrid World, with its iconic "islands" concept, offers permeability between the built environment and the surrounding park, blending architecture seamlessly with the natural world.
This project is not merely about creating a destination but about forging an environmentally conscious, socially inclusive space that promotes sustainability at every level. The design prioritises the conservation of natural resources, incorporating renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, and encourages sustainable transport through bike lanes and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. Low-impact development, such as rain gardens and green roofs, ensures that stormwater is managed naturally, preserving the site's ecological integrity.
Real Madrid World is envisioned as an inclusive public space, accessible to all, offering playgrounds, community gardens, and fitness areas while engaging the community through educational programmes that advocate environmental awareness and social equity. The result is a dynamic interplay of sport, architecture, and sustainability, firmly grounded in Real Madrid’s forward-thinking ethos.
